Working at Aecs Maaruti College Of Dental Sciences means getting used to the sound of drills and the smell of antiseptic. We are right on Bannerghatta Road, at number 763. It’s a busy stretch of road, especially being right opposite the IIM campus. People use that as a landmark when they are trying to find us. The college is always full of students in white coats. They look tired most of the time because the exams are tough and the clinical work takes all day. Our building in Hulimavu isn't the newest on the block, but it gets the job done. We have a lot of patients coming in and out, looking for the dental clinic. Sometimes the waiting area gets a bit cramped. We try to keep the chairs clean and the instruments ready. The elevator can be a bit slow, so most of us just take the stairs. Lunch is often a quick tiffin box in the common room. We talk about the traffic on the way in or the latest news in the neighborhood. It’s a very practical environment. There isn’t much room for fluff when you’re teaching people how to fix teeth. We just show up, do the work, and help the students get through their requirements. By the time the sun goes down, everyone is ready to head home and beat the evening jam on the main road.
