Shakuntala Engineering

You can find us in the Desurkar Compound over in Udyambag at Plot No. B-35. It is a typical industrial setup with a lot of heavy machines and the usual grease on the floor. At Shakuntala Engineering we do a lot of lathe work and milling which means there are always metal shavings everywhere. We try to keep the place tidy but it is a losing battle when you are busy. The compound has a lot of history and we have some neighbors who have been here as long as we have. We start the day by oiling the machines and checking what needs to be finished from yesterday. It’s a lot of precision work but it’s done in a very basic environment. We have a small corner for our tools and a workbench that has seen better days. The light in the shop isn't great but we have some bright lamps over the machines so we can see what we are doing. We don't go in for any big talk about our work. It’s just about making parts that fit and doing it in a way that doesn't waste material. Most of us live nearby so the commute is short which is nice. We just come in, do the shifts, and maybe have a quick chat before heading home. It’s a steady life and the work is consistent which is all you can really ask for.
