J. V. Engineers

J. V. Engineers is located at B-12 in the Duch Industrial Estate, which is part of the Udyambag area. It’s a real industrial atmosphere around here, lots of grease and the smell of cut metal in the air. We’ve got a workshop that isn’t much to look at, but it has everything we need to do the jobs people bring us. The floors are stained with oil and there’s always a layer of iron filings on the workbenches. We don’t really bother with a reception area or anything polite like that. If you come by, you’ll probably find us in the back with our sleeves rolled up. It gets quite loud when the machines are all running at once, so we have to shout over the noise sometimes. We don’t have a big corporate philosophy. We just look at the blueprints or the broken parts and try to figure out the best way to fix them or make them. It’s hard work and it’s often dirty, but we’ve been doing it this way for a long time. The Duch Industrial Estate has its own rhythm, and we are just one of the many units humming along. We don't spend much on advertising because we're usually busy enough just handling the work that comes through the gate by word of mouth. It's a steady way to spend the day, even if your hands never stay clean.
