We are Satish Sugars Limited and we are based right here in Belgaum. This part of the country is known for its sugar and we have been in the thick of it for years. Our place is pretty straightforward. We deal with the farmers and the processing side of things. It is a lot of noise and steam during the crushing season. You can smell the molasses in the air when you get close to our gates. Belgaum is a good place to be for this kind of work. We have a lot of people working here from the local villages. The days start early, often before the sun is even up. We have to keep a close eye on the machinery because it runs 24/7 when we are busy. It is not an easy job and your hands get dirty. We don't spend much time on fancy talk. We just focus on the sugar. Sometimes the equipment breaks down and we have to fix it on the fly. That's just how it goes in this industry. The office is just a small part of the whole operation. Most of the action happens out on the floor. We’ve seen the town grow around us over the decades. We are just a local company doing what we know how to do. It’s honest work and it keeps a lot of families going in this area. We hope the harvest is good every single time we start up the mills.
