If you take the road toward Khudaj Gaon in Tal-Sengaon, you will run right into S L Poultry. It is a busy place and honestly, it is pretty noisy with all the chickens we have here. We spend just about every waking hour looking after the birds. We have to make sure they are fed, the water is clean, and the sheds are kept at the right temperature. It is a job that never really stops because the chickens need care every single day, even on Sundays. The smell is something you get used to after a while, though it might surprise you if you are not from a farm. We started this place a few years back and have just been slowly adding more sheds as we go. The work is very physical, involving carrying heavy bags of feed and moving crates of eggs or birds around all day. Most of our customers are from the villages nearby or small shops in Sengaon that want fresh produce. We do not have a big sign or a fancy office. People usually just pull up to the gate and we help them out with whatever they need. The road out here near Khudaj Gaon can get really messy when it rains, so we spend a lot of time digging out trucks or clearing mud. It is hard work and our boots are always dirty, but we like being our own bosses.
