Guru Nanak Welding Works

Our shop, Guru Nanak Welding Works, is on Gulabari Hospital Road. We are situated right near the Darbar Atta Chakki, so you can usually hear the sound of the mill while we are working. Welding is a loud and bright job, and we spend most of our hours behind a mask. We don't have a clean, polished shop. There are scraps of metal and tools everywhere, but we know where everything is. People bring us all sorts of things to fix, from broken gates to tractor parts. We just take a look, get the torch ready, and see what can be done. It’s hot work, especially in the middle of the day. Business cards and secretaries aren't found here. If you want to talk to us, you just walk in and wait for us to lift the mask. Sometimes we have a lot of work piled up and other days it is quiet. We have been in this spot for years and the people around here are like family. Charging too much isn't our way, we just need enough to keep the lights on and the gas tanks full. It is a simple trade that requires a steady hand and some patience. Fame isn't what we are after, just a job well done. Most of the time we are covered in sparks and grease, but that is how a welding shop should be. We stay busy with the hammer until it is time to go home.
