Umpl India Pvt. Ltd. is based out of the Umpl Tower. Our specific unit is Z/c/3-1118 in Sukhmani Colony, which sits right on Jalandhar Road. It’s a tallish building for this area, so it stands out quite a bit. Jalandhar Road is a very busy stretch of pavement. There is a constant stream of traffic heading in and out of the city. We spend our days inside the tower, mostly working on various engineering and technical projects. The office has a lot of filing cabinets and stacks of blueprints lying around. It’s not the most modern-looking place, but we have everything we need to stay productive. Sometimes the air conditioning struggles when the sun is hitting the windows directly in the afternoon. We have a small kitchen area where we boil water for tea and heat up our lunch. The view from the windows is mostly just the road and some other buildings in Sukhmani Colony. We have been here for several years and have seen the neighborhood change a bit. We don't have any mission statements or fancy posters on the walls. We just come in, do our hours, and try to solve the problems that land on our desks. It’s a steady kind of job. Most of us have been working together for so long that we don't even need to talk much to know what needs to be done next.
