Bombay Art Saloon

You can find Bombay Art Saloon at 106, Binapani Bhawan on Pk Guha Road. We are right in the Italgacha area of Kolkata, very close to the HDFC ATM. The building is one of those older ones that has a lot of character. I named it Bombay Art Saloon because I always liked the style of the old-fashioned shops in the big cities. It is just a regular hair cutting place, really. We have the standard chairs and the big mirrors that cover the walls. Most of the people who come here are from the neighborhood. They stop by on their way home from work or before heading out in the morning. Since we are near the ATM, people often notice us while they are waiting in line there. I try to keep the place tidy but it is hard with hair falling everywhere all day long. I use a broom every thirty minutes or so. We don't have any fancy air conditioning, just a couple of good ceiling fans that keep the air moving. My tools are simple but I keep them sharp. Working in Italgacha means you see all sorts of people. Some want a very specific look and others just say to cut it however I think is best. I like that variety. It makes the long hours feel a bit shorter when the shop is full of local talk and the sound of scissors.
