About Mata Bhago Women Farmer Producer Company Limited – Agriculture & Farming in Barnala
This is a group of women farmers from Bhotna village. We set this up near the library at Manhinder Singh’s place. In our village, women have always done a lot of the work in the fields, so we thought we should have our own company to manage things. We belong to the Sehna block. It’s a very local thing. We don't have a big corporate office or anything like that. We mostly meet up and talk about what we’re planting and how to get a better price for our harvest. Sometimes we meet under a tree or at someone's house to discuss the seeds or the weather. It's all very practical. We started this because we wanted to have a say in how our crops are sold and to help each other out with the hard parts of farming. It’s not easy work, and we all have homes and families to look after too. But we find the time because it matters to us. We aren't looking to become some giant company. We just want to make sure our families in Bhotna are doing okay and that our farms stay healthy. If you come by the village, you’ll find us just doing our daily chores and working the land like we always have. It’s just us trying to make the most of what we have and supporting each other through the good and bad harvests. That's our story and we are sticking to it.
