Bansal Cement Store

You can find us in Pharwahi Bazar, right near the railway station. Being that close to the tracks means we hear every single train that goes by, which is quite a few during the day. The store itself is usually covered in a thin layer of grey dust from all the cement bags we move in and out. It is a busy market area, so there are always people moving around and carts blocking the narrow path. We start very early because that is when the contractors like to pick up their supplies before they head to the construction sites. We have got a small crew helping with the loading. It is back-breaking work, honestly, and we are all tired by the evening. We don't have a lot of space, so we have to stack the bags really high and keep everything tight against the walls. Sometimes the rain gets in if we aren't careful with the shutters, so we are always checking the roof. People come in, ask for a few bags, we load them up, and they are on their way. We keep a simple notebook for the accounts. It is how we have always done it. The bazar is a loud place, full of shouting and horns, but it is home for us. We just keep our heads down and make sure we have enough cement for the next day. It is a simple business, just moving stuff from here to there.
