Baba Sheikh Farid High School

Most of us here at Baba Sheikh Farid High School have been around Barnala for a long time, so we know the Dhanaula Road area pretty well. The school sits right where the local traffic picks up, and every morning you can hear the buses pulling in and the sounds of students greeting each other. It is not a fancy place, just a regular school building with classrooms that have seen a lot of years and a lot of kids. We spend our days making sure the benches are straight and the chalkboards are clean before the first bell rings at eight. Sometimes the fans make a bit of noise in the summer heat, but we just get on with things. The staff room is usually a bit cluttered with notebooks and half-finished cups of tea because there is always something to grade or a parent coming by to check on their child’s progress. We don't have a big corporate office or anything like that. It is mostly just the teachers and the principal sitting together during the break, talking about the upcoming exams or how the playground needs a bit of leveling out. People in Barnala know us because we’ve been here on this road for a while now. It’s a busy spot, but once you step inside the gates, it’s just the usual school routine that keeps us all occupied from morning until the afternoon when everyone heads back home.
