About Surya Bricks Industry – Building & Construction Material in Barmer
Our yard at Surya Bricks Industry is out on the Giral Power Plant Road in Bhadkha. It is a long, dusty road that gets a lot of heavy traffic heading toward the plant. You can see the big towers in the distance while we are working. The area in Bhadkha is quite dry, which is actually pretty good for drying out our bricks after they come out of the kiln. We get a lot of heat out here, and there isn't much shade unless you go into the small shed where we keep the tools and the drinking water. We start our work when the sky is still gray in the morning to beat the worst of the sun. The sound of the power plant is a constant hum in the background, but you get used to it after a few days. We spend most of our time sorting through the bricks and making sure they are stacked neatly so they don't tumble over. Our hands are always stained with the color of the earth we use. We don't have a receptionist or anything like that; usually, one of us just wipes our hands on our trousers and walks over to the gate when a customer pulls up. It is a rough and tumble kind of life, but it keeps us busy and the days go by fast when there are plenty of bricks to move.
