Khalsa Bricks

Khalsa Bricks is situated at Plot Number 311/134 on Nakora Road in Balotra. It’s a wide stretch of land out there, which gives us plenty of room to spread out the bricks so they can bake in the sun. Balotra is a dry place, which is actually pretty good for what we do. We don't have any big signs or flashy lights to show where we are. Usually, you just see the long rows of brown and red bricks sitting in the dirt. It is a quiet operation most of the time, except when the trucks come in to load up. We have a small shed where we keep our tools and where we sit during the hottest part of the afternoon. Dealing with the soil and the water to get the mix right is the most important thing we do. If we get it wrong, the bricks won't hold up, so we pay attention to that. We don't use a lot of fancy machinery; it’s mostly just hands and shovels. People from around the Nakora Road area know us as a place that has been around for a bit. We aren't trying to do anything fancy. We just make the bricks, stack them up, and wait for the builders to come by. It’s a steady way to make a living, and we like being out in the open air instead of stuck in an office.
