Govt Of Orissa

Out here in Kadobahal, things move at a different pace. This is the office of Dr. Tapan Kumar Mishra, and we handle the veterinary assistant surgeon duties for the Govt of Orissa. Our address is right in the heart of the village. It’s not a sterile hospital environment. Since we deal with livestock and farm animals, there is usually some mud on the floor and the smell of medicine in the air. We don’t have a fancy waiting room with magazines. People usually just stand outside or sit on the bench until we can see them. Most of our work happens out in the fields anyway. We spend hours traveling to different farms in the Bargarh district to check on the animals. The paperwork is something we do in the evenings when we get back. It’s a lot of manual logging in registers. The building itself is old and the walls are a bit stained, but it’s sturdy. We don't have a big staff, just a couple of us helping the doctor. We don’t bother with marketing or trying to look polished. The farmers know us and we know them. That is enough. Some days are very long, especially when there’s a sick cow or a sudden problem in a nearby village. We just do the work that is needed. It’s a practical, hands-on kind of life here in Kadobahal. We are just a local office doing what we can for the animals and the community.
