Nation Iron Works

We are located right on Barailly Road, which stays busy from sunrise to sunset. If you’re looking for us, we’re the building directly opposite Gandhi School. You can usually hear the kids playing during recess while we’re inside working on the iron. The shop isn’t anything special to look at, just a sturdy place where we can get the welding and cutting done. The front door is usually kept open for ventilation because it gets quite hot when the torches are running. There’s a layer of black soot on most of the shelves, which is expected in this line of work. We’ve been on this road for years. People in the neighborhood know us by the sound of the hammers. We don’t have a fancy website or a marketing team. Most people just stop by because they saw the sign while driving toward the city. We spend our days measuring rods and joining pieces together. It’s heavy work and it wears out your boots pretty fast. On rainy days, the sound on the metal roof is so loud we have to shout to hear each other. We keep a stash of cold water in the corner and take breaks when we can. It’s an honest way to make a living. We don’t put on any acts; we just show up, do the ironwork, and go home to our families when the sun goes down. That is how the business has always operated.
