Steel Craft

You can find Steel Craft at Number 56 in Civil Lines. We’re right near Prasad Cinema, almost directly opposite Kipps Sweet Shop, which is a bit of a danger because we end up eating too many sweets during the day. The shop itself is mostly a large open area where we do all our fabrication. It’s an old building, but it serves our purposes well enough. We have stacks of steel pipes and sheets leaning against the walls. The smell of hot metal and welding is just part of the atmosphere here. We’ve been in Civil Lines for a long time, so we’ve seen the cinema change hands and the shops around us come and go. Our front door is usually left wide open so we can get some air in while we work. It’s not the quietest spot, especially when the movies let out or when the sweet shop gets busy in the evenings. We spend most of our hours measuring, cutting, and joining pieces together. It’s dusty and noisy, and we usually have grease on our clothes by noon. We don’t really have a front desk; usually, someone just walks in and finds us at the back with the tools. It’s a straightforward way to earn a living. We just keep our heads down and get the work done for whoever needs it in the neighborhood. Civil Lines is a good place to be for a shop like ours.
