Amco (India)

Our place, Amco (India), is located at 7-1080/A in Nehru Ganj. We are right across from the Nagareshwar School, so we hear the kids playing and the school bells ringing all day long. It’s a busy little corner of the world. We’ve been operating out of this building for a few years, mostly handling wholesale stuff for the local market. The front of the shop is usually crowded with crates and bags. We don't have much in the way of decoration, just some old calendars on the wall and a few chairs for when customers want to sit and talk. My wife helps me with the bookkeeping in the afternoons, and we have a boy who helps move the heavier items. The street outside can get quite jammed up with carts and bikes, especially when school lets out. We try to get our deliveries done early in the morning to avoid the mess. It’s a simple business, nothing flashy. We just try to keep enough stock on hand so people don't have to go elsewhere. Sometimes we sit out front on stools when things are quiet and watch the people go by. It’s a good neighborhood, and we’ve made a lot of friends since we moved in. We aren't looking to become a giant corporation; we’re just happy to keep the doors open and the bills paid while serving the folks around Nehru Ganj.
