Our setup is out in Sastipally, Jotram, which is part of the Burdwan district. It’s a lot different from being in the city. The air is fresher, though it can get quite humid during the monsoon. We have a simple office building right on the farm grounds. It’s where we handle all the international paperwork and local farm management. You can see the fields right from the front door. We have a small team of local people who have been with us for years. Most of our days are spent checking on the crops and making sure the orders are ready to go out. The furniture in the office is pretty old, mostly wooden desks and some metal chairs. We don't have a lot of high-tech gadgets, just what we need to stay connected and keep the records straight. It’s a quiet place for the most part, except when the tractors are running nearby. We take our breaks under the shade of the trees when it gets too hot inside. It’s a real working farm, so there’s always something that needs fixing or a fence that needs attention. We don't spend much time worrying about how the office looks to outsiders. We just care about the land and getting the produce where it needs to go. That’s life here at Paramount Farms in Burdwan.
