Down in Faijpur Ninana, you’ll find Dbf Bhatta Company. It’s a village area in Bagpat, so it’s mostly fields around us. We are pretty far from the main city. The road out here isn't always the best, especially after the monsoon. We work when the sun is out. The kiln is the center of everything. It’s a lot of manual labor. We don't have fancy robots or anything. It’s just men working with the clay and the fire. It’s hot work. We take breaks under the trees when we can. My father started this place, and now we just keep it going. We don't have a website or a logo. Everyone in the Taluka knows where the bhatta is. We use the post office in the village for our mail. It’s a slow pace of life here. We wake up early, before the heat gets too bad. We don't talk much about business strategy. We just try to make enough bricks for the local builders. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we just sit and wait. That’s just how it is in Bagpat. It’s honest work and it keeps the family fed. Dbf Bhatta Company is just a part of the landscape here. The laborers live in small huts nearby. We all eat together sometimes when the work is done. It is a very simple way to live, but it is all we have known for years. We just keep the fire going.
