Malancha

Malancha is located on Kalibari Road in Kolkata, with the pin code 700125. This area is a bit different from the very center of the city, and it has its own pace. The building we are in is quite plain, and we haven't done much to change it over the years. We have a few rooms where we hold our sessions. It is a very basic setup with benches and boards. We don't have any mission statements or corporate goals. We just open up in the morning and wait for the students to arrive. Kalibari Road can be quiet at times, but it picks up when the local schools let out. We have a lot of books stacked up on shelves, some of them are quite old now. The paint on the walls is a bit faded, but it doesn't really matter for what we do. We are just a local place where kids can come to get some extra help with their subjects. To be honest, we don't really do much in the way of promotion. People just find out about Malancha from their neighbors or relatives. It’s a very small-scale operation. We use simple fans and regular lights. Nothing is fancy or high-tech. We just sit together and go through the chapters one by one. It is a practical and honest way to spend the day. We like the community here and being part of the daily routine on Kalibari Road. It feels like we are just another small part of the neighborhood.
