We are located at House No. 127 in Tapper Wari Pora, which is part of the Pattan tehsil. It’s a bit of a drive from the main city, but we like it here. Azim Foods And Spices is our small company where we deal with exactly what the name suggests. Spices are a big part of life in Kashmir, and we wanted to be involved in that process from the ground up. We do a lot of the grinding and mixing ourselves right here at the house. The smell of turmeric and chili is always in the air around our place, which we've gotten used to over the years. It’s a real family atmosphere since we work out of a residential area. Sometimes the neighbors come by to see what we’re up to or to buy a small bag for their dinner. We don't have a big marketing team or anyone to do our social media. We just rely on the fact that we know our spices and people seem to like them. Pattan is a good place for this kind of work because it's quiet. We get our raw materials from local farmers whenever we can find the right quality. It’s a lot of manual labor, cleaning the seeds and making sure everything is dry before it goes into the mill. We’ve had some tough times with the power cuts, which makes the machines stop right in the middle of a batch, but we just wait it out. We aren't trying to change the world; we just want to provide decent spices to the kitchens around here.
