We are set up right on Udaipur Road, which is a good spot for all the big trucks to pull in and out. Managing building materials means we spend most of our time outside in the yard or under the tin roof where we keep the bags of cement. It gets very hot out here during the summer months, and the wind blows the dust and sand around quite a bit. We deal with a lot of bricks, gravel, and steel rods for construction projects. Most of the time we are just busy coordinating with the drivers and making sure the piles of material are where they should be. It is heavy, physical work and our clothes usually end up covered in white dust by the time lunch rolls around. We don't have a fancy office, just a small cabin with a wooden desk where we keep the records and bills. People from the nearby villages and the outskirts of the city come here when they are building a new wall or fixing up a house. We have seen a lot of changes on this road over the years as more buildings go up and the traffic gets heavier. It’s a simple life, focused on getting the materials delivered where they need to go. We keep the inventory moving as fast as we can. It’s loud and dusty out here, but it is what we know how to do best to keep the projects moving.
