Our mill is right here in Indas village, not far from the post office. It’s a loud place once the machines start running in the morning. We take the raw paddy from the farmers around here and turn it into the rice that people eat. There is always a layer of fine dust over everything, no matter how much we sweep, but that’s just part of the job. The building is large and gets pretty hot during the summer months. We have a small crew of locals who know exactly how to handle the machinery and the heavy sacks. It’s a lot of physical labor, dragging bags across the floor and loading them onto the trucks that come and go. People from the village often drop by to chat or to check on their grain. We don't have a fancy website or a big marketing team; we just have our reputation among the local growers. If the crop is good that year, we stay busy day and night. When the harvest is over, we spend our time maintaining the equipment and fixing the belts and motors. It’s a straightforward life centered around the cycles of the rice fields. We’ve been a part of this village for a long time, and everyone knows where to find us when it’s time to process their harvest. It is a noisy place, but it's home to our daily work.
