Store Officer

I’m the store officer out here in Vill. Hodal Boni. My name is Arun Mondal, and this place is in the Nityandapur area of Bankura. It’s a bit different out here compared to the big cities. Things move a lot slower. My office is basically just a room with a lot of shelves and a heavy door. I spend most of my time looking over the supplies we have and making sure nothing is going to waste. It’s a lot of responsibility because people depend on what’s kept here. I have to be careful with the records. Sometimes the rain makes the road to the village difficult, so deliveries get delayed. When that happens, I just have to wait it out and hope the truck doesn't get stuck in the mud. I spend a lot of time cleaning the shelves because the dust from the fields nearby finds its way through every crack. I don’t have fancy equipment, just a desk, some chairs, and my ledgers. The people around here are mostly farmers or workers, and they stop by when they need to check on something or pick up supplies. It’s a peaceful kind of work. I like the sound of the birds outside more than the sound of cars. I keep things locked up tight at night with a heavy padlock. It’s my job to know exactly what’s inside those four walls at any given moment, and I take that part seriously even if I’m just a local guy doing his bit every day.
