Lokenath Rice

Lokenath Rice is located right in the Khirish Market area of Barjora. We are also near the Collage Road, so there are always people moving about and bikes going past the front door. Bankura is the kind of place where everyone seems to know each other, and being in the market makes us part of that daily life. Our work is pretty straightforward. We deal with the rice that comes in from the local fields. It’s a lot of weighing bags and stacking them up in the warehouse space. The building isn't anything fancy, just a sturdy place to keep the grain dry and safe. Sometimes the humidity in Bankura makes it a bit tough, so we have to be careful about how things are stored. The floor is usually dusty from the sacks being moved around all day. We start early in the morning when the market is just waking up and stay until things quiet down in the evening. It’s a simple routine, really. We don't have a big team, just a few of us making sure everything is handled properly. If you walk down Collage Road, you'll hear the sounds of the market and see the trucks being loaded up. It’s a busy spot in Barjora and we’ve been operating out of this Khirish Market location for a good while now. It’s just how we spend our days, working with the grain and seeing the familiar faces of the neighborhood.
