Gourang Rice Mill

Gourang Rice Mill is located in Patpur, right near the Bankura Railway Station on the Main Road. Being so close to the station means there is always a lot of movement. You can hear the trains whistling and the clatter of the tracks all day long. Our mill adds to that noise with its own mechanical clanging. We’ve been at this spot for years, and the building shows its age a little, but it’s sturdy. We process a lot of rice here, and the Main Road makes it easy for trucks to pull in and out. The front area is usually cluttered with empty sacks and pallets. Inside, the air is often warm and carries the scent of toasted grain. We don't have any professional salespeople. Usually, it is just one of us wiping sweat off our forehead and talking to whoever walked in. We handle the paperwork on a small wooden desk that’s seen better days. The work is repetitive—loading, milling, bagging, and repeat. But there is a satisfaction in seeing the piles of finished rice ready to be shipped out. We are just a local operation in Patpur, trying to keep up with the demand and making sure the machinery doesn't break down at the wrong time. It’s a gritty, loud, and busy place to be, but it’s our place and we are used to the rhythm of the trains and the mill. We just get on with it.
