Abinash Rice Mill

Down here in Nafardanga, Sonamukhi, life moves at its own pace, and the mill is right in the middle of it. We are located in the Bankura district, and anyone around here can tell you how important rice is to our local economy. The mill itself isn't a modern glass building; it's an old-school setup with sturdy walls and heavy machinery that has seen a lot of use over the years. We spend our mornings checking the grain quality and making sure the workers are settled in. It gets quite hot in Bankura during the summer months, and the mill floor can feel like an oven, but we keep at it. We don't really do fancy advertising or have a website with lots of photos. Most of our business comes from people we've known for decades. The roads around Nafardanga can be a bit bumpy, especially after the monsoon rains, but the trucks still manage to make it through. We handle everything from the cleaning to the final bagging. It’s a lot of manual labor, and my clothes usually end up covered in husk by the end of the shift. We just want to make sure the rice is processed correctly so the farmers get their fair share. There are plenty of challenges, like machine parts wearing out or the rain delaying a shipment, but that’s just how it goes in this line of work. We stay until the last bag is loaded and the gates are closed.
