Mts Store

Nagarathpet is a place with so much history, and being on C P Tank Road at number 47 means we’re right in the middle of it. The Mts Store is a narrow little place, packed from floor to ceiling. You have to be careful not to knock anything over when you walk in. It’s always dusty because of the construction going on nearby, so we spend a lot of time with a cloth in our hands. We’ve got a lot of competition on this street, but we just do our own thing. Customers come in because they know we’ve been here for a while and we don’t give them any trouble. It’s mostly just me and my brother running the show. We eat our lunch in the back room among the spare boxes. The bell on the door doesn't work right, so we just keep an eye out for anyone walking in. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to use candles or a small battery light to keep going. It’s not the most modern way to run a shop, but it’s how we’ve always done it. We know most of the other shopkeepers around here, and we often trade change or borrow a ladder when needed. It’s a tight-knit spot and we’re just glad to be a part of it, watching the neighborhood change while we stay mostly the same.
