Mts Store

Jawahar Nagar is a busy little pocket and being on Mathikere Road No 2 at house 32 means we see a lot of foot traffic. The Mts Store here is just a simple shop. We don’t have any of those bright flashing lights you see on the main road. Inside, it smells a bit like electronics and the incense we burn every morning. The shelves are packed tight with all sorts of things, and sometimes it takes a minute to find the right drawer. We’ve been here long enough that the postman doesn't even look at the address anymore. It’s mostly just me and a helper who comes in for a few hours. We spend a lot of time talking to customers about things that have nothing to do with what they're buying. That’s just the way it goes when you’re a local shop. The rain sometimes leaks a little near the door, so we keep a bucket handy during the monsoon. It's not a perfect setup, but it works for us. We drink a lot of coffee from the stall across the road. Usually, the evenings are the busiest when everyone is coming back from work and realizes they forgot to pick something up. By the time we lock up, the street has finally started to go quiet. It’s a tiring job but we like being part of the neighborhood and seeing the local families grow.
