Mts Store

Sunkalpet is one of those places where you can't ever really hear yourself think. Being here at 134 Malleshwaram, it’s always busy. We open up the Mts Store early because that's when the first lot of people start moving through the lane. It’s a tight space, mostly filled with boxes we haven't found a permanent home for yet. The floor needs a sweep pretty often because of all the dust coming in from the road. Most of our day is spent looking for specific items for people who are in a hurry. You’d think we’d have a better system, but honestly, we just know where things are by memory. The tea guy comes around twice a day and that’s usually the highlight. We don't have a big team or fancy uniforms, just a couple of us who know the regulars by name. It’s funny how you get to know people just by what they buy or how often their phone screen breaks. The lights flicker a bit when the heavy machinery starts up next door, but we don't mind much. It’s just how things are in this part of town. We stay open late because someone always needs something last minute before heading home. It's a long day, but it’s our routine and we’ve gotten used to the rhythm of the street and the constant bustle of the crowds outside our door.
