If you know Kumbarpet, you know how tight the streets are. Our place is at No 33 on O.K. Road. It is an old area, very crowded, and there is always someone pushing a cart or a scooter trying to squeeze past. We have bottles stacked from the floor to the ceiling. Glass, plastic, small ones for oils, big ones for chemicals. It’s a bit of a maze inside. Most days are spent counting stock and talking to people who walk in looking for a specific type of jar or cap. We don’t do any big advertising. People just know we are here because we’ve been in this spot for a long time. The dust from the street comes in, so we are always wiping things down. It’s not a quiet job. You hear the clinking of glass all day long. Sometimes a crate breaks and we have to clean it up quick so nobody trips. We don't have a big HR department or fancy computers. Just a desk, some ledgers, and a lot of shelves. The light in the back is a bit dim, but we know where everything is kept. It’s a family-style environment where everyone knows each other’s business. We drink a lot of tea while waiting for the next delivery truck to find a parking spot on the main road. It is just a normal shop doing normal business in a busy part of town.
