Bangalore Insurance Service is tucked into Basco Court, right near the Gandhi Bazar Circle in Basavanagudi. If you know this part of town, you know it smells like flowers and fresh coffee most of the time because of the market. We are at number one in the court. It is an older building, which fits the whole vibe of Gandhi Bazar. People around here appreciate things that have been around for a while. Our office is small and filled with folders and old ledgers that we still keep around for some reason. We have seen the circle change a lot over the years, with new shops opening up and the traffic getting worse, but our corner stays pretty much the same. Most of our day is spent talking to locals who have lived in Basavanagudi their whole lives. They drop by to ask about their policies or just to say hello while they are out doing their shopping. We don't use any fancy systems, just the usual computers and a printer that occasionally jams. It is a local operation through and through. We like being part of this community. You won't find any glossy brochures here that promise the world. We just explain the terms as they are written and help people fill out the boxes on the forms. It is honest work and keeps us busy from morning until the market starts to wind down for the night.
