Lokwani

We have been here in Balrampur for quite some time now. Lokwani is just a regular place where we get things done every day. It is not a big fancy office or anything like that. Mostly, it is just us sitting here and handling whatever comes our way. The street outside can get pretty loud sometimes with the traffic and people walking by. We open the doors early in the morning and stay until the sun goes down. There is always something to do, like checking the papers or talking to the folks who drop in. Some days are busier than others. When it rains, the roof makes a lot of noise and we just wait it out. We don’t have any big speeches to give. It is just a local business trying to keep things moving. We know most of the neighbors by their first names. If you walk past, you will see us working at the desks. It gets dusty because of the road being so close. We try to keep it clean but it is a losing battle sometimes. There is a small tea stall nearby where we get our drinks in the afternoon. Life in Balrampur is simple enough and we like being part of it. We just keep our heads down and do the work that needs doing. That is pretty much how it goes for us here.
