Our group is located at Omwati’s house, where Bhagwan Das also stays, in the area of Budhara and Sarai Ahmadkhan. The pin code is 207401 if you are looking for it on a map. We called ourselves Marehara Farmer Producer Company Limited because that’s our home. It’s a very local thing, started by people who actually live here and know the dirt under their fingernails. We don’t have a receptionist or a lobby. If you come to see us, you’re basically coming to a home where business happens on the porch or in the courtyard. We talk about the crops, the pests, and the prices while kids are playing nearby and cows are being fed. It’s a community effort more than a corporate one. We don’t have a big marketing budget to tell everyone how great we are. We just focus on the daily stuff, like getting the right fertilizers or making sure everyone has a way to get their produce to the market. Life in 207401 revolves around the seasons, and so do we. It’s not always easy, and sometimes we run into problems with the paperwork or the weather, but we just keep going. It’s about surviving and maybe doing a little better than we did last year by working as one group. It is just us, trying our best with what we have.
