Our little food business is on Halakatti Street in Hospet, right near the K.E.B. office. It’s a narrow street, so it can be a bit of a squeeze if two cars try to pass at the same time. We’ve been here for several years, and most of the locals know us by now. The smell of whatever we are preparing that day usually drifts out onto the road, which brings people in to see what we have. It’s a small setup with a few large pots and some packaging area in the back. We don't have a big staff, just a few of us who have been working together for a long time. The floor is made of old stone, and we try to keep it as clean as possible, but with food production, there’s always something to mop up. We don't have fancy branding or colorful boxes. We just pack things in plain bags and stick a label on them. Sometimes the supply of ingredients is late, and we have to wait around, drinking coffee until the truck arrives at the corner. It’s a simple way of living and working for us. We open the doors early in the morning when the air is still cool. People stop by to pick up their orders or just to say hello while they’re out doing their errands. It isn't a high-tech factory, just a regular kitchen-style operation where we do our best to get things done right.
