Siddhi Vinayak Public School

Balasore is where we are, specifically around the 756001 area. Siddhi Vinayak Public School is just a part of the landscape here now. It is a simple building, nothing that would make you stop and stare, but it works for what we need. The halls are narrow and the rooms get a bit stuffy in the summer, but we keep the fans going as much as we can. You can hear the city sounds from the windows, the rickshaws and the people talking, but once the lessons start, it mostly fades out. We have a small yard where the kids play during the breaks. It gets muddy when it rains, and we spend a lot of time telling everyone to wipe their feet before coming back inside. The desks are wooden and heavy, and they make a lot of noise when they get moved around for cleaning. We don't have a lot of extra space, so every corner has something in it, like old maps or extra chairs. Life here is mostly about the routine. The bell rings, the books open, and we go through the day. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit by the windows to get enough light to read. It is an honest kind of place. People in Balasore know us as the school around the corner. We just focus on getting through the syllabus and making sure the gate is locked at night.
