M/S Gkw Limited, Powmex Steel Divn. Turla Titilagarh, Orissa

This is the Powmex Steels Division for GKW Limited. We are located way out in Titilagarh, Orissa. It’s a place that gets very hot, probably one of the hottest spots in the country. Gopal Chandra Satapathy handles things in the HRD department here. The steel plant is a big part of the area. It’s noisy and there is always a bit of soot in the air, but that is just part of the job. We have a lot of people coming and going through the gates every shift. The office part is where we keep the records and handle the hiring. It’s a lot of paperwork. We don't have fancy air conditioning everywhere, just in a few rooms. We drink a lot of water to keep going in the heat. The furniture is all heavy metal stuff that lasts forever. We don't really do much to make the place look pretty. It’s a steel plant, after all. We focus on the production and making sure everyone gets their pay on time. It is a tough environment but the people here are used to it. We've been part of the Titilagarh landscape for a long time. Most people in town have someone in the family working here. We just keep the wheels turning as best as we can every day of the week.
