Vikram School

Vikram School is in Balaghat, under the 481001 pincode. It is a standard school building that has been part of this area for quite some time. We have a main gate that opens up to a small yard where the kids gather. The classrooms are filled with the usual desks and chairs. You can see charts made by the students hanging on the walls. In the morning, you can hear the sound of the prayer and the national anthem. The teachers arrive with their bags and go straight to their rooms. It is a very normal place. We don't have fancy air conditioning or big sports halls. The kids play outside in the dirt when they have their break. Sometimes it gets a bit loud, but that’s what happens when you have a lot of students in one place. We teach the subjects like science and history. The office is just a small room with some files and a telephone. We know most of the families in Balaghat who send their children here. It’s a very local feel. Rain makes the yard a bit messy, but we just carry on with the lessons. The blackboards get covered in chalk every day and we wipe them clean. It is just a regular school doing its daily work. We don't try to be anything else. Most of the people around here know us well and we see the same faces every day.
