Barkhetri Farmer Producer Company Limited is based out of 1 No. Kandhbari, right near Mukalmua. You can find us at the home of Samsul Haque, who is the son of Babar Ali. A lot of the families around this part of Barkhetri have been farming for as long as anyone can remember. We finally thought it made sense to put our names down as a real company so we could work as one group. It helps when we need to buy things for the farm or sell what we have grown at the end of the season. Mostly it is rice and vegetables that keep us busy all year. The roads around here can get pretty muddy in the monsoon, but we manage to get things moved. We are not experts in business or anything like that, just people who know how to plant and harvest. It gets pretty loud when we all get together to talk about the season’s plans. Everyone has a different opinion on the best time to sow the seeds. We do not have a fancy office with air conditioning or nice desks. It is just a spot where we keep our papers and talk. Life here is slow, and we like it that way. We just want to make sure our crops are good and that we do not lose money on the harvest. It is about sticking together so nobody gets left behind. Sometimes things go wrong, but that is just part of farming.
