Kassar is where we set up our base. It is a quiet enough place most of the time, though the trucks coming and going for the ceramics keep things moving. We spend our hours surrounded by stacks of tiles and heavy boxes. Moving these things is hard on the back, but that is just part of the job. You get used to the smell of clay and the fine dust that settles on everything. We don't have a big corporate lobby or anyone in a suit greeting you. It is more about the forklift beeping and the sound of pallets being moved around the floor. When someone stops by looking for something specific for their kitchen or bathroom, we just show them what we have on the racks. Some days are slower than others. We might just sit outside for a bit when the sun is out. It is a simple setup really. We focus on the tiles and making sure the inventory is right. Sometimes the weather makes the roads around Kassar a bit muddy, which makes loading a bit of a pain. But we manage. Most of the guys here have been around for years. We know each other's stories and how we like our coffee. It isn't anything flashy. It is just a place where we work with ceramics and try to get through the day's tasks without too much fuss.
