Nandhi Iti College

Nandhi Iti College is situated on Ramdurg Road here in Badami. If you know the area, you know it's a bit of a drive out, but it's where we have the space for our workshops. We focus on technical training because that's what's needed around Bagalkot. We have rooms for different trades like electrical work and mechanics. The equipment isn't brand new, but it works and it's what the students will actually see when they get jobs. Most of the guys coming here are from the nearby villages. They want to learn a skill so they can find work in the city or start their own repair shops. We spend a lot of time in the workshop areas rather than just sitting at desks. It gets pretty hot in the afternoons, especially with the machines running, so we try to get the heavy work done early in the morning. Our instructors are local people who have worked in these fields for years. They don't give long lectures; they just show you how to fix things. We handle the paperwork for the certifications, which can be a headache with the government offices, but it's part of the job. There's a small canteen nearby where everyone grabs tea. It’s a plain, no-nonsense place to get a bit of practical education and hopefully a better job afterward. We just try to keep things moving along day by day.
