Our place is situated at 875, Bagalkot, on the Belgaum Road. It’s a busy stretch of road, so there is always a lot of noise from the passing traffic and the big lorries moving back and forth. This part of the country gets really warm, so the yard is usually baking in the sun for most of the year. We spend our time managing the stock of cement bags that come in from the main plant. It’s heavy work, moving those bags around, and your clothes always end up looking white by the end of the shift. We have a small office where we keep the ledgers and talk to the drivers who are passing through. It’s not a fancy setup at all, just some basic furniture and a lot of dust. We see a lot of different people every day, from contractors looking for a few hundred bags to local guys just needing a couple for a small repair at home. We try to keep things moving so the trucks don't get backed up on the road. The Belgaum Road is always busy, so we have to be careful when we’re loading near the gate. Most of the staff live nearby, so we walk or cycle into work. It’s a simple operation, nothing too complicated, just making sure the cement gets where it needs to go without too much fuss. We've seen the road change over the years, and there is more traffic now.
