Yogesh General Store

Opening the shop in Rel-Mavadi early is just part of the routine here in the Kannad area. We've been at this spot in the Aurangabad district for a while now. It’s a simple place. People from around the village walk in for all sorts of things, maybe a packet of salt or some pencils for their kids. The shelves are mostly full of things you’d need every day. Sometimes it gets a bit dusty because of the road, but that's just how it is. We spend most of the day behind the counter, talking to neighbors about the weather or the crops. It's not a fancy supermarket, just a regular general store where everyone knows everyone. During the afternoons when it’s hot, things slow down a bit. We sit under the fan and wait for the evening crowd. Most people stop by after work to pick up oil or tea leaves. We try to keep what people ask for. If someone needs something specific, we write it down for the next supply run. It’s quiet here in Rel-Mavadi, and being part of the daily life of this small corner of Aurangabad is what we do. There isn't much to it, just keeping the shop running and making sure the jars are filled. We see the same faces every day, which is nice.
