You can find Prakash Hardware at Niwara Appartment, which is right opposite the Holly Cross Vikas Kendra. We’re near the Jafargate area, so it’s a pretty central spot for people who are doing repairs or building something new. The shop is packed from floor to ceiling with all kinds of stuff. We’ve got boxes of screws, rows of hammers, and different types of plumbing pipes tucked into every corner. It’s a bit hard to find things sometimes, but I usually know exactly which pile a specific tool is hidden in. We spend a lot of our day helping people pick out the right size of bolt or the right color of paint. It’s a lot of walking back and forth behind the counter. The street outside is always full of rickshaws and people heading toward Jafargate. We don't have a fancy display or bright lights. It’s just a regular hardware store where the smell of oil and metal is always in the air. My son helps me out in the afternoons when the school rush is over. We’ve been here serving the local community for a long time, and we know most of the contractors who live around here. Sometimes the shop gets so crowded that people have to wait on the sidewalk. It’s just a simple, local business where we try to keep the shelves stocked with what people need.
