Mm General Store

I open the shutters early on Gadiya Vihar Road while the sun is still coming up over Shahanurwadi. It gets busy here near Trisharan Chowk, especially when people are headed to work and need something quick. My shelves are full of the usual stuff like biscuits, soaps, and plastic buckets. Sometimes the dust from the road gets on everything and I spend half the morning with a cloth just wiping things down. It’s a small space but I’ve lived in Aurangabad my whole life so I know most of the faces that walk through the door. People stop by for a single pen or a packet of milk and we end up talking about the weather or the traffic for ten minutes. The fan stays on all day because the Maharashtra heat doesn't really let up much in the afternoon. I keep the accounts in a big ledger book by the counter because it’s just easier for me that way. There isn't much to say about the shop except that it's here every day from morning until late evening. My family helps out when I need to go get new stock from the wholesaler. We just try to keep things organized so people can find what they need without having to ask every time. It’s quiet in the mid-afternoon when everyone is resting, then it picks up again around sunset. That's just how life goes here in this corner of the city.
