Kamdhenu General Store

Kamdhenu General Store is just a small place on Mukundwadi Railway Station Road. I open up early because people heading to the station usually need something last minute like a pack of biscuits or some bottled water. It gets quite dusty here with all the traffic going towards Digvijay Complex, but we try to keep the counters wiped down as much as possible. I’ve been sitting in this shop for a long time now, watching the city change around us. Most of the people living around Jai Bhavani Nagar Road stop by for their daily milk or some cooking oil when they run out. It is not a fancy place with bright lights or anything, just rows of shelves packed with soaps, pulses, and snacks. Sometimes the delivery trucks block the narrow road and it gets a bit chaotic outside. My nephew helps me out in the evenings when it gets crowded. We don’t have everything in the world, but usually, if you need something for your kitchen or house, it’s sitting somewhere on these shelves. People around here know me by name, and I know which brand of tea they prefer without them asking. It’s just how things work in a neighborhood shop like this. Sometimes we sit on the plastic chairs outside during the slow afternoon hours just to catch a bit of breeze. It’s a simple life running a shop in Aurangabad.
