Hamadan Gernal Store

Hamadan Gernal Store is located in the Hamadan Building in Sadat Nagar. We are right on the Station Road in Aurangabad, so there is always a lot of movement. You can hear the trains passing by and the people walking toward Rahul Nagar. I start my shift early to catch the people heading to the station for their morning commute. They usually want some chewing gum, a bottle of water, or a pack of cigarettes. The store is filled with shelves that go all the way to the top. I have to be careful when pulling things down so nothing else falls on my head. We stock a lot of household items too, like washing powder and cooking oil. The air can get quite hot here in Maharashtra, so we keep the doors open to get a bit of a breeze, even if it brings in the noise from the station. I spend a lot of time chatting with the neighbors who have lived in Sadat Nagar as long as I have. We talk about our families and the changes in the city. The floor is made of old stone and it’s worn down in the spots where people stand the most. I keep a radio on low volume in the background to listen to some music while I work. It’s a steady life, just minding the shop and helping the local folks get their groceries every day. We just stay busy with the routine.
