We are set up at 7 Abhay Chand Nagar. It is a straightforward location for a trauma centre because people can find it without too much trouble. The building itself is busy at all hours. You never really know what the day is going to look like when you walk in at eight in the morning. One minute it’s quiet and we’re just drinking tea, and the next minute the ambulances are pulling up and everyone is moving at once. It’s an LLP, so we have a few partners who look after different parts of the hospital. We don’t have a lot of time for fancy decorations or marketing brochures. The walls are mostly white, and the floors are scrubbed down constantly. Most of our work involves managing the shifts and making sure the trauma equipment is ready to go. The neighborhood around Abhay Chand Nagar is a bit noisy, but once you’re inside, you just focus on the patients. We deal with a lot of paperwork for insurance and government records, which keeps someone busy at a desk for most of the day. It’s the kind of job where you wear comfortable shoes because you’re on your feet constantly. We don't talk much about visions or missions. We just handle the emergencies as they come through the door and try to keep everything organized in the middle of the chaos. It’s a tough way to make a living, but it’s what we do.
