Durgesh General Stores

We've been running Durgesh General Stores for quite some time now over at Nehru Chowk in the Chawani Cantonment area. It is a busy spot in Aurangabad, especially being right there near the Ho. Most mornings start early for us because folks heading to work stop by for their usual items like cigarettes or a quick pack of biscuits. We try to keep the shelves stocked with whatever the neighbors might need during the day, from soap to school notebooks for the kids. It’s a small place, really, but we’ve gotten to know a lot of the families around here by name. Sometimes the delivery trucks arrive late and things get a bit messy behind the counter with boxes piled up, but that’s just how it goes in a small shop. We don’t have any fancy displays or anything like that. It’s mostly just boxes and jars sitting where they’ve always been for years. If you walk past the Cantonment, you’ll probably see us leaning against the door frame when things are quiet or just chatting with the person next door. The weather gets pretty hot in Maharashtra, so we keep the old ceiling fan going all day long, even if it makes a clicking noise. Dealing with change and counting coins takes up a good chunk of the afternoon. People come in for a single pen or a loaf of bread, and we chat about the local news while I look for a plastic bag. It isn’t anything special, just a regular shop doing its thing in Nehru Chowk.
