Ayesha General Store

Ayesha General Store is situated right across from Shiv Bangle General Store over in the Pishor Kanaw district of Aurangabad. It’s a quiet enough area most of the time, though things pick up during the local festivals. We’ve got a bit of everything here, from household cleaners to snacks for the kids. The shop isn't very large, so we have to be careful about how we stack things so nothing falls over. I usually spend my morning sweeping the front step and getting the glass jars lined up. My neighbor across the street at the bangle shop and I usually wave to each other when we open up. It’s a friendly enough place. People around here don't expect anything fancy, just that we have what they need when they run out of soap or matches. Sometimes the power goes out, and we have to sit in the dark for a bit, but the customers still come in, and we use a flashlight to find what they want. It’s just how things go in this part of the district. We don’t bother with advertisements or anything like that. People know we are here because we’ve always been here. I write down the sales in a little ledger at the end of every day, and that’s about as complicated as it gets. It’s a simple life, and we are happy to be part of the Pishor community. The dust from the road comes inside, so we are always cleaning the counters to keep things looking decent.
